Emerging is more of a state of mind that age. I'm 40 and love the conversation.

I think what is interesting is the younger the age, the less baggage to let go of.

Re: Linkin Park Is The Emerging Generation

Daniel, I'm with you there....I really think in the Kingdom of God age is as irrelevant as is being male or female or any of the other commonly used divisive devices. I'm 48 and definitely an emerging Christian...."right" generation or not!

Re: Linkin Park Is The Emerging Generation

LP - What I've Done
http://youtube.com/watch?v=...

I think this is a great song! Just listen to the words.

Re: Linkin Park Is The Emerging Generation

I definitely ask myself that question a lot, Most of the time though, it just sounds like the scream at 2:25.

One disagreement though. I would not say that the emerging generation is only 25 and below. I'm 27 and would consider myself more a part of that than another generation.

Re: Linkin Park Is The Emerging Generation

I've actually written about LP on several occasions...their music inspires and encourages me...and no, I'm not in the "25 and below set", either.

Re: Linkin Park Is The Emerging Generation

Jonathan, well at least you HAVE an accompanying soundtrack in your head; I just hear an echo! ;-)

Re: Linkin Park Is The Emerging Generation

Okay let's be honest for a second and say that we've all said it. I just like the accompanying soundtrack to Chester's version better. Mine is something like a four year old banging on the piano.

Re: Linkin Park Is The Emerging Generation

Tracy, well said. Yes I have to admit I have asked that question of myself once . . . or twice . . . okay a few more times than that.

Re: Linkin Park Is The Emerging Generation

I've always liked this band and I really like this song a lot. I'd be surprised if many Christians (if they were really being honest with themselves) could honestly judge this. Maybe it's just the people I hang with, but most everyone I know has at one point or another thought (and said), "What the f*** is wrong with me?" even after they've become a Christian. I sure have :-). Just last night I read these words in a book, "You are a not a liability to God," (I'll quote it in full tomorrow on my blog if you want to read the context) and I cried like a baby. My emotional response told me I still in some sense deep inside I still think, "What the f*** is wrong with me?!!!.

Anyway, all that to say that it seems to me people with lyrics and hearts like this are just a tiny step away from embracing the gospel (the true gospel, not necessarily one that most Christians hold out when they think of "the gospel").
