I like yourself, read the book and wrote a review on it and raved about it.
But like both of us, multiple other people wrote reviews on it as well. Including DJ Chaung, who wrote a post today about this whole issue, and other people who have said the exact same thing, even to the point of saying the new design is refreshing and looks great.
What I do not understand is that this has now blown up even though I read this book two years ago.
As well, the video on facebook (and I could be wrong about this) references "central" several times. Central Christian Church in Vegas is the church that jud is pastor at, but it seems like they were the ones that made the video and not mike.
But I can definitely see how that video is very offensives. Just like the videos or TV shows that depict white males as stupid and incompetent.

Kyle, the content of the video might have been Central's but it had both Jud and Mike's approval because it was posted by Mike and came from Jud's church.

I'm with you. I had never even thought of it being offensive until people said it was. Weird. I guess I'm more insulated than I like to think.

Tyler, maybe we're all blind to some things.

    Jonathan:

This is well put & sums up a lot of my exact thoughts. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for a very well thought through and sensitive response. I appreciate your willingness to see through another's eyes. Blessings

Thank you Soong-Chan. I was impressed by your willingness to take this on a speak up. You are fighting for your dignity. Well done.

Good words here JB--looks like the issue has been addressed and there is a spirit of grace and truth (and humility!) in a move toward reconciliation. I recently attended the CCDA (Christian Community Dev Assoc) conference in Cincinnati and Soong-Chan Rah was one of the keynote speakers and seminar leaders. His words there completely rocked my WASP worldview. If you haven't yet read his book "The Next Evangelicalism" pick up a copy ... powerful stuff.

Hi I stumbled on your blog by accident.
Taking offense is that experience of having one's pride wounded.
Should Christians be worried about wounding people's pride?
    Yes, but not overly so.
Humility and charity don't get prickly when someone steps on their toes.
