Missio Dei: A One Year Reflection

  • Bill Kinnon · 1 year ago
Has it really only been a year. I feel like I've been reading you forever. I'm very glad you are blogging - and that we've come to know each other through these lit pixels on laptop screens.
  • Jeromy · 1 year ago
Well, for what it's worth, today is Saturday and I just read this post. But then again I've never really been one to follow the trend!
  • David · 1 year ago
Yes. I just broke your weekend theory as well.

I can't believe you have only been at this thing for a year. I have definitely appreciated your contribution though this space. You have been a meaningful part of my own formation.
  • Becca Clark · 1 year ago
    - People don’t read blogs on the weekends, at least not mine. No worries though. Monday is the biggest day and slowly flows down from there.

Mine too! Oh good; I'm "normal."

Except for the fact that I'm reading your post on Saturday. ;)
  • Jonathan Brink · 1 year ago
Thanks for stopping by on the weekend friends. ;-P
  • Peggy · 1 year ago
Abi stops to ponder..."what is normal?" Hehehe....

Thanks for blogging, Jonathan. I won't be coming up on my one year mark until October...but I resonated with just about everything you said here.

I don't track stats at my blog... 8)

Shalom to you on this lovely Saturday!

Jonathan, here I am reading away on Saturday!

I am so grateful you began blogging. If you had not, I would probably have never heard of you or Thrive materials, would not be meeting with the group I do, and the list goes on and on.

Your blog has really created quite the domino effect in my life, and I don't think the pieces are even nearly done falling yet.

Happy one year, and here's to many more!

Add me to the list of non-weekend blog readers :)

I had forgotten how I first came across your blog, but now I remember -- it was the "Top 50 reasons" post. Not sure where I even found that, come to think of it, but I'm glad I did.

I really appreciate your writing and you spirit as well. As I told you, your blog was one of the key ones I camped out on, reading anonymously for a time, to get a sense of how I'd like to go about doing my own.

Speaking of my own, I just created a post on my experience about two hours ago at a neighborhood grocery store, entitled, "Grocery Store Hell!! Or A Lesson in Patience" -- http://blog.visionnavigator.com/2008/08/grocery...

Don't expect anyone to read it of course, since "people don't read blogs on the weekends, at least not mine" ;)

Come to think of it, people don't really read mine during the week either :(

    Was that pitiful enough?

    Hi Jonathan,

Just this past Monday, I "discovered" your Blog from another's blog. I've been reading as many as I can.

Just to let you know...per #2 of this entry...you'll find that I'm going to comment often...and I won't disappear. Sure, there may be gaps of days or postings where I may not comment, but I have added your Blog to my RSS Feeds, so I plan on reading yours every day. :)

I, too, have only recently discovered there's a whole new beautiful "world" of creating relationships through Blogland. I had NO idea! Neat how the Holy Spirit is using this medium as a way to bring people into relationship

Yes, it's not face-to-face, which such relationships are important to have, but it has been a blessing "getting to grow, and share my journey and others' journeys through the Blogosphere.

So...thanks Jonathan. Look forward to getting to know you better.

    ~Amy :)

Okay now you guys are all making me look silly by making this a well commented post...and on Saturday of all days. ;-P

I've had few glasses of wine so I thought I'd post this.

Some say love it is a river
    that drowns the tender reed
Some say love it is a razer
that leaves your soul to blead

Some say love it is a hunger
    an endless aching need
I say love it is a flower
    and you it's only seed

It's the heart afraid of breaking
    that never learns to dance
It's the dream afraid of wakingthat never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken
    who cannot seem to give
and the soul afraid of dyingthat never learns to live

When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been too long
and you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winterfar beneath the bitter snows
    lies the seed
    that with the sun's love
    in the spring
    becomes the rose

I don't know if you remember Chad but I used that quote in our Q2 workbooks. Love that quote.

I am a relatively new reader, but I definitely enjoy your posts and your thoughtfulness.

I am reading on a Sunday morning, when I should be getting ready for my home group meeting.

Congrats on a year. Hope there's much more to come...

Jeff, thanks for sharing your kind words and enthusiasm.

"Okay now you guys are all making me look silly by making this a well commented post…and on Saturday of all days. ;-P"

Don't worry Jon. I never read blogs on weekends. So much other stuff going on!
  • Daniel · 1 year ago
Jon, thank you for writing this blog. I don't remember how I got here or what it was that I read first, but I've been here ever sense. If you've only been doing this for a year, then I must have got here close to the beginning.

One thing I've noticed though, Since you are so open and honest about things, I really feel that I know you better than any of the people that are supposed to be part of our "community Group."

I love your heart and how it is translated into words on your blog. You have a gift and I'm glad you're willing to share it.

You have deeply impacted me, my brother...I look forward to what's to come: the journey, Tribe, and more options on tap at SOL.
